Tragic news this morning as it is confirmed that a plane carrying members of a Brazilian football team has crashed.
According to Sky News, the charter aircraft was carrying the Chapecoense team from southern Brazil as it headed to Colombia for a cup final. There were 81 people on board.
It is believed the plan went down in a mountainous area outside Medellin just before midnight last night.
A statement from Jose Maria Cordova airport said: "all possible aid was being mobilized because six survivors are being reported".
The mayor of Medellin, Federico Gutierrez, told Blu Radio: "It's a tragedy of huge proportions."
It is not clear yet what caused the crash.

The Guardian, the plane started its journey in Sao Paulo, Brazil, at 3.35pm in the afternoon local time. It made a stop in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, a bustling economic hub in eastern Bolivia, later that day before setting off for Colombia.
