An imprisoned paedophile in Tasmania has been convicted of creating paedophilic pornographic stories using the tragedies of missing British child Madeleine McCann and three-year-old, William Tyrrell who went missing from his grandmother’s house two years ago in New South Wales.
The 60-year-old former hostel worker, Sonny Day was caught scrawling the horrific stories on the wall of his cell hidden under a desk and also on scraps of paper. The stories were called “What happened to William Tyrell” and “What happened to Madeleine McCann”.
ABC has reported that the offender wrote the shocking material between 2012 and 2015 while serving time in Hobart prison for previous child pornography offences.
He was released from prison briefly in 2014, after serving time for a similar previous conviction, only to be arrested just weeks later and incarcerated again when it was found he was downloading child pornography at his place of work, a hostel.
Day has pleaded guilty to the charges and is due to be sentenced in the supreme court next week.
