The only remaining suspect in the 1998 Omagh bombing that killed 29 people looks set to walk free.
Seamus Daly was charged with killing 29 people in the car bomb attack and has been in custody since April 2014 based on mobile phone evidence.
Sky's Ireland Correspondent, David Blevins, said the decision to drop the charges was on the basis of insufficient evidence, meaning Daly will walk free on Tuesday.
He said: "This was always a complicated case. Prosecutors have made clear that they were working with their colleagues in the Republic of Ireland to obtain mobile phone records.
"It would seem that they have been unable to put together a strong enough case and they will withdraw those charges."
Michael Gallagher, whose son Aiden was among those killed in the explosion, has expressed outrage that victims' families were not kept updated on the prosecution's collapse.
"We have been failed once again by the police service, by the prosecution service, by the government and by the criminal justice system."
