Clarification for reopening was given this evening.

After 17 months of closure, the Irish Government has given the nightlife sector the go-ahead to reopen on October 22. An Taoiseach Micheál Martin made the announcement during his address to the nation this evening. The update follows a long campaign from the industry calling for a roadmap for the easing of Covid-19 restrictions. Minister Catherine Martin, meanwhile, has said that in preparation for the reopening of the sector, a pilot night club event will take place in September. https://twitter.com/cathmartingreen/status/1432753045209763848?s=20 In his address, the Taoiseach outlined how Ireland will emerge gradually out of the current level of restrictions throughout September and into October. September 6, for instance, will see indoor venues being able to operate at 60% capacity for those who are vaccinated and outdoor events will be able to operate at 75% capacity for those who are vaccinated. This, however, is contingent on case numbers remaining manageable as well as 90% of adults being vaccinated. This gradual easing of restrictions will culminate with the lifting of the majority of remaining restrictions on October 22. This includes mandates for social distancing, limits on indoor and outdoor dining and restrictions on religious ceremonies. Masks, however, will still be required in healthcare settings, on public transport and in shops. They will not be required in outdoor settings, or in private indoor settings. Certain healthcare facilities will still maintain social distancing measures and restrictions on visitors. Those who experience Covid-19 symptoms, or who test positive for the virus will still be required to self-isolate. October 22 will also see the requirement to work from home being lifted, as a "phased and staggered" basis for the return to work will begin on September 20.
