Four men have been charged with his murder.

A murder investigation into the death of Irish man Tom Kennedy has begun, after his body was found in a river in the country of Georgia. Mr Kennedy's body was found in the Mtkvari River in Gori on 9 October, The Journal reports. The 28-year-old man was from Claremorris in Co. Mayo, and was a musician, singer and song-writer. He studied at MTU Cork School of Music. Georgian police allege that Mr Kennedy had been socialising with some locals until a row broke out. The men have been accused of beating Tom, and throwing him into the river when he was unconscious. Four individuals have been charged with his murder, and one additional man has been charged for his failure to report it to the police. They were all refused bail yesterday. A GoFundMe has since been set up by Tom's cousin Olivia Barrett to raise funds to repatriate his body. The fundraiser reads: "We are absolutely devastated there are no words, life will never be the same again without our beautiful talented boy. It is currently very difficult to repatriate Tom home due to the Covid19 restrictions, so we are setting up this GoFundMe Page to raise funds to bring Tom home as soon as possible, this is costly, and with the help of the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust, we will get him to his beloved home of County Mayo." Ms Barrett added that any additional funds raised will be donated to the Kevin Ball Repatriation Trust, which is currently supporting Tom's family during this time. The GoFundMe has since raised over €34,000.
