"Friendship and love between man and dog have no boundaries."

An injured hiker has been saved by a "hero" dog who lay on top of him and kept him warm for 13 hours. Grga Brkic fell while climbing in the Croatian mountains and found himself unable to move. When two others who were hiking with him were unable to reach him they raised the alarm. In the meantime, the eight-month-old Alaskan Malamute, called North, came to the rescue. Eventually, 30 first responders reached Brkic where he was stranded - which was nearly 1,800 metres above sea level. “The minutes and seconds before they arrived were so slow,” he told Croatian media. Brkic was found with North curled around him trying to keep him warm. The dog was credited by rescuers for helping to save his life. https://www.instagram.com/p/CYOwHgtsE29/ Croatia’s mountain rescue service shared a photo of North and the hiker with the caption: "The friendship and love between man and dog knows no bounds. Due to a series of unfortunate circumstances, they slipped down the slope together yesterday afternoon." It added that even when the man was found and placed on a stretcher the dog still wanted to keep him safe and remained lying on top of him. "From this example we can all learn about caring for each other," it concluded. “This little dog is a real miracle,” his owner told the Jutarnji List daily paper. He added that North emerged none the worse from the experience. Croatia's mountain rescue service have warned against taking dogs along on hikes in difficult conditions.
