Four counties are due to be battered with rain over the coming hours as Met Eireann issues a status yellow warning.
The weather alert is in place for Cork and Kerry while a separate notice is in effect for Galway and Mayo, according to Met Eireann.
The warning for Cork and Kerry is currently in place and will remain until 8:00 pm.
Meanwhile, Galway and Mayo are under warning until midday on Friday, July 7.
During these hours, Met Éireann is warning of heavy rain which may lead to localised flooding in some areas.
"Heavy rain at times, with highest accumulations in mountainous regions. Unseasonably windy conditions also," the forecaster said.
Met Éireann has also warned of potential impacts of the incoming bad weather such as Localised flooding, difficult travelling conditions, increased debris, and damage to temporary outdoor structures.

As for the forecast for the rest of the country, the Irish forecasters say:
Today
Wet and windy conditions spreading eastwards with rain and drizzle becoming widespread this afternoon. The rain will be heaviest and most persistent across Atlantic counties with spot flooding possible. Highest temperatures of 16 to 18 degrees with southerly winds increasing fresh to strong and gusty.
Tonight
Outbreaks of rain and drizzle will continue tonight, heavy in places, but some drier intervals will occur also. Windy or blustery conditions will become increasingly confined to eastern and southern coastal counties overnight. Humid with lowest temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees.
Friday
Scattered heavy showers with a chance of isolated thunderstorms, tomorrow Friday, mainly affecting the western half of the country during the morning and early afternoon. Drier with sunny spells developing in the east. Warm and humid, with highest temperatures of 18 to 23 degrees, with the best of the sunshine and temperatures over the northern half of the country. Moderate to fresh and gusty southeast winds.
Friday night
Friday night will bring further showers or longer spells of rain, especially to parts of the west and south towards morning with the potential for some thundery downpours. Lowest temperatures 15 or 16 degrees in moderate to fresh southerly winds, strong near coasts.
