A man got stuck in a tunnel he dug beneath his ex-girlfriend's home while he was trying to spy on her.
The culprit had to be rescued from the manmade hole in Puerto Penasco, northern Mexico after his former partner discovered that he had become trapped in the tunnel.
Press Association reports that the man had spent 50 days digging the tunnel beneath the house after his ex-girlfriend ended their relationship.
He had previously received a court order to stay away from his ex following a domestic abuse charge.
After his rescue he was promptly arrested and is now serving time in jail.
When discovered by authorities, the man was intoxicated and severely dehydrated.
The woman became aware of her ex's presence when she heard scratching noises beneath her floor. She originally presumed the noises were coming from an animal.
She had been with the man for 14 years before ending the relationship. She said he had become too jealous.
