A man who was arrested by Gardaí in relation to the disappearance of Giedre Raguckaite over three years ago has been released without charge. The man was detained and questioned at a Garda station in the midlands on Monday. Giedre, 29, was living in Dundalk Co Louth at the time of her disappearance, after moving to Ireland from Lithuania in March 2018. She was last seen at a house in Laytown, Co Meath, on 29 May 2018. It is understood she was accompanied into the house by two men at around 11pm that night and that she was then taken from the house later, at around 1.45am, by the two men. Earlier that evening she had called her father in Lithuania and told him that she was out socialising after being either in a pub or hotel earlier, The Journal reports. A murder investigation has been launched by Gardaí but the whereabouts of her body and the cause of death is still unknown. A Garda spokesman said: “The man arrested yesterday morning, Monday 10th January 2022, in relation to the disappearance of Giedre Raguckaite in May 2018 has been released without charge. “A file will now be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.”
