Gypsy Rose Blanchard is trying to return to a somewhat normal life

In 2015, Gypsy Rose Blanchard pled guilty to the second-degree murder of her mother, Clauddine ‘Dee Dee’ Blanchard.

There has been major interest in her life after prison but Gypsy Rose has realised that sharing your life online isn't as easy as it looks.

Gypsy Rose may be well-known but as she said herself, she isn't a celebrity.

She is someone who was mentally and physically abused by her mother. She has had one of the toughest childhoods and an even more difficult start to adulthood.

Gypsy Rose really needs to start this new chapter without the eyes of the world on her.

Fans may have been disappointed to hear about Gypsy Rose's plan to delete her social media accounts, but it's the best decision for her.

She explained the decision on TikTok: "A lot of people already noticed that I already deleted my Instagram—the public one—with the 7.8 million followers when I deactivated it or, I deleted it, I permanently deleted it.

"A lot of people are like, ‘What happened?' and what happened is, I had a really good conversation with my dad and he gave me some guidance that I feel like I really needed. And that guidance was that real life is something you can touch—something you can feel—people you can actually hug."

"With the public scrutiny as bad as it is, I just don't want to live my life under a microscope," she shared.

Gypsy said she doesn't want to spend this chapter of her life being ridiculed and watched online. People may have been stunned to see Gypsy give up such a huge following, but do they matter at the end of the day?

"I just don't want to live my life under a microscope"

There may have been millions of people following her on Instagram but having privacy is far more important than being popular on Instagram.

"I thought that once I got out of prison, I'd come out and I'd enjoy social media like the next person," she continued. "Taking selfies of myself in the mirror and just acting goofy and everything. It's the simple stuff in life, right?"

"I don't understand why people are so interested in my life, I don't get it. I don't see myself as famous. Especially for—for what? Like, I did something bad.

"I'm trying to make myself a better person now but I don't get it. That's not me, I'm not famous. I'm not anything. I'm just Gypsy."

Gypsy Rose is trying to start over, but doing that with millions of eyes watching you on social media is nearly impossible.

She deserves to have this fresh start in private because she's not just some character in a true crime series. She's a real person who wants to live in the moment.

Stepping away from social media is one of the best things we can do for our mental wellbeing. Moving away from the world of likes, Instagram reach and follower counts will help us see that there is more to life than how many people are liking your latest TikTok video.

And that realisation is the most empowering of all.
