Gardai are appealing for the public’s help following a serious sexual assault in Killiney on Monday evening.
A woman in her forties was said to have been viciously attacked by a lone man while walking in the Bayview Estate area in the South County Dublin suburb. The attack occurred at approximately 5.45pm after the woman got off the DART in Killiney.
The woman was able to alert a passerby and was taken to hospital. Although Gardai declined to comment on the woman’s condition, they have stated that numerous lines of investigation are being followed.
CCTV footage from the locality is also being examined, in addition to house-to-house inquiries.
The incident follows a 5.30am attack by two men on a 22-year-old American tourist on the Killiney Road in Dalkey on the 11th of January. The handbag that was stolen during the robbery contained the young woman's passport as she was making her way with two friends to Dublin airport to fly home to the US. One of the men involved has been described as wearing a white hoody and being of average height and build.
Gardai are asking any witnesses or persons with information to contact them at Shankill Station on 01-6665900 or the Garda Confidential Line on 18000-666-111.
