Family members and friends of Chloe Hipson, who was killed in last Saturday's tragic road accident in Co. Louth, have set up a fundraiser to help bring Chloe's body back home to Scotland "to give her the loving send off she deserves."
Chloe's family has also announced that a gathering for family and friends will take place today (Wednesday, November 19) in the Eternity Room of Quinn's Funeral Home in Dundalk from 4 pm to 7 pm, before Chloe is repatriated to her home in Scotland.
Chloe, who was only 21 from Bellshill in Lanarkshire, Scotland, tragically died alongside her four friends, Chloe McGee (23), Alan McCluskey (23), Dylan Commins (23), and Shay Duffy (21), in the devastating incident in Dundalk last Saturday.
It is understood that Chloe, a second-year student at the Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT), and her group of friends were travelling to the Dundalk area for a night out when the collision occurred.
The five deceased were all travelling in the same car, a Volkswagen Golf, when they collided with another vehicle, a Toyota Land Cruiser, on the L3168 in the townland of Gibstown, Dundalk, last night, Saturday, November 15, shortly after 9 pm.
Another man in his 20s, from Ardee, was travelling in the same car as the deceased and was treated in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda for serious, non-life-threatening injuries. He has since been released from the hospital.
The two occupants of the second vehicle, a man and a woman, both in their 20s, were also taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Chloe’s death notice on RIP.ie states: "Beloved daughter of Ryan and Toni, sister of Ryan and Tommy and aunt of Brodé.
"She will be so missed by her heartbroken parents, brothers, Brodé, grandparents, extended family and many friends.
"There will be a gathering for family and friends on Wednesday, November 19th, in the Eternity Room of Quinn's Funeral Homes, Dundalk (A91 KW52, entrance on Castletown Road) from 4 pm-7 pm."
A fundraiser on GoFundMe titled ‘Chloe Hipson’ has been launched by Bellshill Amateurs FC in Scotland in an effort to bring Chloe’s body back home.
The Bellhill club, of which Chloe's brother Ryan is a player, said: "We as a club at Bellshill Amateurs were absolutely devastated to hear of the passing of 21-year-old Chloe Hipson.
"Chloe sadly passed away after being involved in a road traffic collision in Ireland. A young woman ready to live her life, taken from her family far too soon.
"Chloe is the younger sister of current player Ryan, and we don't have the words to convey how devastated we are for Ryan and his full family.
"We are looking to help the Hipson family raise funds towards funeral costs and the costs of bringing Chloe home so that they can say their goodbyes properly and give her the loving send-off she deserves. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated."
Over €30,000 has been raised so far, with more pouring in.
