Were you watching the first episode of Dublin Murders?

Even if not, you're likely to hear a lot about it for the series, broadcast on both BBC and RTÉ, has already gained a huge fan following. Based on Tana French's Dublin Murder Squad novels, In the Woods and The Likeness, the thriller concentrates on two murders, seemingly unrelated but as viewers will discover later, there are a number of disturbing common themes. The cast includes a number of Irish actors with Kilian Scott and Sarah Greene playing the leads, detectives Rob Riley and Cassie Maddox. Both characters are extremely complex which is obvious from the opening episode.

A hook for Irish viewers too is focusing on events from an Ireland gone by, the Celtic Tiger and its repercussions - imagine this with a touch of the supernatural thrown in too. What makes Dublin Murders so effective is the fact that the setting is so close to home and numerous viewers were quick to share just how quickly the show has gotten under their skin.

Also, there were those who just couldn't get their hands around how and why some scenes are filmed in Belfast when the location is meant to be Dublin, much confusion.
