Enda Kenny today addressed his colleagues at a Fine Gael parliamentary meeting and briefly discussed his role as leader of the party amid speculation he will step down from the role.
At the meeting Kenny revealed that he would deal with his future effectively and conclusively after St Patrick's Day.
Speaking on the Six One news, RTE political correspondent David Davin-Power said Kenny's speech was relatively short and was followed by a standing ovation before normal matters resumed.

Speculation had been mounting over Enda Kenny's position over recent days with both Leo Varadkar and Simon Coveney appearing to surreptitiously put their hats in the ring for the role of leader of Fine Gael.
It seems likely that if Kenny had not put forward an acceptable statement at the meeting, in the eyes of the other Fine Gael members, he would have faced a motion of no-confidence as early as tomorrow.
