Good news, Dublin Airport could be getting a third terminal.
The Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport (DTTAS) has published a request for tenders (RFT) to conduct a report on the future capacity of Ireland's airports.
They are looking for experts to study the future demand at Cork, Dublin and Shannon airports.
A request for tenders (RFT) is a formal, structured invitation to suppliers to submit a bid to supply products or services.
The RFT is expected to recommend a timeframe for the development of a new Terminal 3 at Dublin Airport.
According to the DTTAS, “Tenderers will also be asked to assess the relative advantages and disadvantages of the funding and operation of Terminal 3 by the existing airport operator in comparison to being operated on an independent basis.”
The reports was initially announced by Minster for Transport Shane Ross in September and concerns the long-term future of Ireland's airports until 2050.
Ryanair chief executive, Michael O'Leary said at the Fine Gael gathering that Ryanair should be allowed to develop and run the third terminal.
