The DSPCA has found the body of a decapitated animal in south Dublin for the second time this week. On Thursday, a DSPCA Inspector was called to a green area in Ballyboden where a cat’s body had been dumped. The cat, a tabby and white female, had been decapitated. Its head was not found at the scene. “The DSPCA and Rathfarnham Gardaí are investigating and are calling on anyone who saw something suspicious or who may have any CCTV footage to contact Rathfarnham Garda Station as soon as possible," the charity said. It comes as earlier this week, the remains of a dog were discovered in a bin in South Dublin. The large tan male un-neutered bull terrier had also been decapitated. Its remains were taken to the DSPCA Shelter in Rathfarnham, where they were examined by DSPCA Veterinary team. It is thought that the dog had been dead for two days. Following the disturbing discovery, a full investigation was launched by the DSPCA and Gardaí at Clondalkin. A microchip was found on the animal's body, which the DSPCA said would "assist the investigation". “We know that the animal was not killed or decapitated at the place it was found and there is evidence that it was brought there in a vehicle and dragged a short distance to where it was dumped," a spokesperson for the organisation said. “We really need to find out what happened to this poor animal.  It is a disgraceful way to treat any animal and the fact that its head is missing is even more disturbing.” Anyone with information about either incident, or any CCTV or camera footage, is urged to come forward and contact the DSPCA Inspectors at 01 4994727 or Rathfarnham and Clondalkin Garda Stations.
