The remarks have angered many.

The President of The United States, Donald Trump, has come under fire for comments made about four women in Congress. He launched an attack on four progressive Democratic congresswomen yesterday, making xenophobic and racist comments. The four women in question are of Hispanic, Arab, Somali and African American origin. "All they do is complain," The President said to press at a White House event. "These are people that hate our country. If you're not happy here, you can leave." Mr Trump also accused the congresswomen of  having "love" for American "enemies like Al-Qaeda". One member of the press asked Donald Trump if he was concerned of coming across as racist. "It doesn't concern me because many people agree with me," was his response.

A few hours later, the four women, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota and Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts - had a chance to respond. Ms Omar said that Donald Trump made a "blatantly racist attack" on four politicians "of colour". "This is the agenda of white nationalists," she added. And members of Trump's own party have begun speaking out against the President's comments. "My view is that what was said and what was tweeted was destructive, was demeaning, was disunifying, and frankly it was very wrong," said Senator Mitt Romney. "There is no excuse for the president's spiteful comments - they were absolutely unacceptable and this needs to stop," said Senator Lisa Murkowski. A number of world leaders, including Justin Trudeau of Canada, have spoken out against the comments.
