A new documentary is coming to TVs this month and is set to explore Gabby Petito's murder case, with her family opening up on her tragic death.
Coming to Peacock on December 17th, the trailer for The Murder of Gabby Petito: Truth, Lies and Social Media has just been released, showing her parents speaking out publicly about her death.
"It was like every parent's nightmare in just a flash of a second," Gabby's stepdad Jim said in the preview. "She's gone, she's missing."
"The thoughts that were going through my head were that something really bad has happened to her," her mother Nichole added. "It's still unbelievable. I don't understand it."
Gabby was reported missing back on September 11th, ten days after her fiance Brian Laundrie returned to Florida alone after the pair had embarked on a summer cross country road trip, starting in New York.
Gabby's body was found on September 21st at Grand Teton National Park, the spot she was last seen at with Brian on their trip.
Her death was later ruled a homicide by the FBI, revealing she had died as a result of strangulation manually.
Brian himself then went missing, telling his parents that he was going for a hike in the Carlton Reserve in Florida but never came home, despite then being a person of interest in the missing persons case.
Brian's body was then found on October 20th from a gunshot wound to the head, with North Port Police Chief Todd Garrison saying at the time: "That guy went out there and by all accounts probably committed suicide and he was right out there where we thought he was."
The TV special is not the first time the family have opened up about Gabby's passing, with mum Nichole telling Dr. Oz that despite alleged domestic violence, they never saw anything suspicious with Brian.
"I don’t know why Gabby didn’t open up to me about certain things," Nichole said. "We just didn’t see any red flags."
