An investigation has been launched after a limerick woman was assaulted in her own home.
According to reports, 37-year-old Simone Lee was attacked in her own home in the early hours of Sunday morning.
A source told
The Independent that Lee suffered severe burn marks.
"We don't know whether the burn marks were caused by some kind of acid or by some kind of boiling water," they said.
The first respondents to the scene found Lee seriously injured in her home, wearing only a pair of wet jeans.
The woman had burn marks to her face, a stab wound in her back, and a deep cut to her head.
“She had one stab wound to her back and she had quite a severe laceration to her forehead,” a source told the
Irish Examiner. “The guy who apparently assaulted her was still there when the emergency services arrived at the flat.”
A source also said that it looked like she had been there for some time.
A 28-year-old man is being held in relation to the attack.
It is understood that the man is known to Lee.
