It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.

Ireland is set to see its first snow of winter this year after Met Eireann has been predicting snow and sleet to take over the country from today as Storm Arwen hits. But are we likely to completely get a White Christmas? New research from The Digital PR hub at Legacy Communications shows which counties are more likely to be hit with some snow on Christmas day. In the top spot, it's Donegal and Tyrone, with the two Ulster counties at a 60% chance of getting snow, with Fermanagh coming in third at 50%. Clare, Laois, Longford, Offaly, Roscommon, and Westmeath were also at 50%, with Cavan following at 40%. And if you love the colder season and dream of snow, but are from Kerry or Waterford, we have some terrible news, you're in with a 0% chance of some sneachta this year. Legacy used TimeAndDate.com and Met Eireann to gather data on this winter's weather conditions for each county, looking at patterns from the past ten years to figure out which counties are most likely to get snow for Christmas. Weather expert, Alan O’Reilly of Carlow Weather, said: "Some weather signals are showing a risk of a colder spell of weather early in the winter which would increase the chances potentially of a cold spell in December. "There are some signals that we could see some cold spells with high pressure out in the Atlantic blocking the weather systems coming from the West and seeing more of a northerly and easterly influence which gives us a chance of cold air coming down from Polar regions or Scandinavia. "Your best chances for snow are always the north or the east. Generally, northern areas will always have a better chance, so Ulster counties because they’re closer to the northerly cold air - The closer you are to that cold air the better the chances are." Snow or no snow, it'll be a bitter one this Christmas regardless.
