The couple, who offered the 21-year-old just over $11,000 to be a surrogate and then promised her an extra sum of money to have the second baby, took Gammy’s twin sister home to Australia.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the parents reportedly told Pattharamon to have an abortion as they did not want the child, but she refused to.
She explained: “I know he isn’t genetically connected to me but I carried him for nine months. Every time I look at him I feel sorry and guilty”.
A campaign was subsequently set up on Go Fund Me, entitled ‘Hope For Gammy’, to help support Pattharamon who cannot afford Gammy’s medical costs. So far, over $60,000 has been raised.
