A boy has died at an assault course while on an end of year school trip.
The 14-year-old was at the adventure assault course in Surrey, England today when he collapsed and died.
He is understood to have suffered a cardiac arrest.
The Sun reports that the boy was with a group of other teenagers at the Camelot Events adventure site when he suddenly collapsed.
Emergency services attended the course but the boy was pronounced dead at the scene.
"I saw about two police cars and three ambulances and it did look quite serious," said a woman who works near the adventure site.
"They were just in a field across the road from us, I could see loads of cars dropping the kids off and picking them up. I believe they were a school party, a school event mud run."
Surrey Police confirmed the boy's death this evening.
"His death is being treated as unexplained, however at this stage his death is not thought to involve any third party and a file will be passed to the coroner’s office in due course," they said in a statement.
"The boy’s next of kin has now been informed. We would ask that the family’s privacy be respected at this time."
Camelot Events are cooperating fully with the investigation and have offered their "deepest sympathies" to the child's family.
"We would like to make it clear that this incident was not connected to the safety of the obstacle course," said Lisa Edwards, Operations Manager at Camelot Events.
"We would also like to clarify that, despite earlier reports, the child was not on an obstacle but was on dry land when they became unwell and collapsed. Out of respect to the family and friends of the child, we will not be revealing any further details about this incident.
"We have offered our deepest sympathies to the child's family and the school, and our thoughts continue to be with those affected at this incredibly sad time. We will also be supporting our staff who worked tirelessly in their efforts to save the child."
