A seven-year-old-boy has died from injuries he sustained in a road traffic accident on the 12th of January involving a truck and the car his mother was driving.
Daniel O'Keefe (7) and his mother Emma O'Keefe (26) were involved in a collision with a truck just minutes from the family home in Wilkenstown, Co. Meath.
The mum of two, who had both her sons in the car at the time of the accident, was rushed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda where she passed away on the 13th of January.
Following the incident, which took place on the Nobber to Kilberry road, Emma's eldest son Daniel was transferred to Dublin's Temple Street Children's Hospital.
Yesterday, a Garda spokesman confirmed that the young boy had died as a result of the injuries he sustained in the incident.
