A spokesperson for the musician has denied the allegations.

Singer song-writer Bob Dylan is being sued by a woman who claims that he sexually abused her when she was 12 years old in 1965. The lawsuit, which was filed in a New York court on Friday, alleges that Dylan abused the plaintiff over the course of six weeks. A spokesperson for the musician said: "The 56 year-old claim is untrue and will be vigorously defended." The alleged victim claims that Dylan "exploited his status as a musician" to provide her with "alcohol and drugs", and that he sexually abused her "multiple times". The suit states that the emotional effects of the alleged abuse were of a "permanent and lasting nature" and have "incapacitated" her from attending her regular activities. The suit claimed that she had to seek medical treatment on multiple occasions. Dylan has also been accused of "physically threatening" her. The accuser said that the alleged abuse, which she claims took place in Dylan's apartment in New York's Chelsea Hotel, caused her "severe psychological damage and emotional trauma". The plaintiff is seeking unspecified damages as well as a jury trial. The suit was filed the day before the window for filing claims under New York's State Child Victims Act closed. This measure enabled victims of abuse to sue alleged perpetrators regardless of whether or not the statute of limitations had passed.
