Parents are being urged to apply for the Back to School Clothing and Footwear Allowance before the end of September.
The deadline for this year's payment is just months away, but parents can still apply before the end of September.
The payment was introduced in a bid to help parents with the cost of school uniforms, as well as shoes. A €100 bonus will be given this year due to the ongoing cost of living crisis.
How to apply
You can apply for the Back to School Clothing and Footwear Allowance in June 2023. The closing date for the application is September 30th.
To be eligible, your child must be:
Aged between 4 and 17 on September 30th- the year you're applying for BSCFA
Aged between 18 and 22 but returning to full-time second-level education in the autumn. The school or college must be recognised by the Department of Social Protection.
Am I entitled to the payment?
You can receive the BSCFA payment if you have a child that qualifies.
You also need to:
- receive a qualifying social welfare payment or be in approved employment, education, or training scheme
- both you and your child also need to be residents of Ireland
- your household must also be within the BSCFA income limit
How much do parents receive?
In September 2023, parents of children aged between 4 and 11 will receive €260.
Those with children aged between 12 and 22 will be given €385. However, they must be returning to full-time education in autumn.
Parents will also be given an additional €100 payment. Payments will roll out in July, according to
Citizens Information.
