A documentary about Avicii shows that he predicted he would die young.
The Swedish DJ, whose real name was Tim Bergling, was found dead last week in Oman at the age of 28.
Now fans revisiting his 2017 documentary have spotted that the artist had warned his management that he was "going to die" because of the pressure that touring was putting on his health.
In Avicii: True Stories, which was filmed over four years, he made it clear that he was suffering.
"I have told them this: I wont be able to play anymore," he is seen telling director Levan Tsikurishvili.
"I have said, like, I’m going to die. I have said it so many times. And so I don’t want to hear that I should entertain the thought of doing another gig."
Having done 813 shows in eight years, Avicii announced that he was retiring from touring in 2016.
Speaking in the film, he reveals that he was told he should keep gigging.
"When I decided to stop, I expected something completely different.
"I expected support, particularly considering everything I have been through. I have been very open with everyone I work with, and everyone who knows me.
"Everyone knows that I’ve had anxiety and that I have tried. I did not expect that people would try to pressure me into doing more gigs.
"They have seen how ill I have felt by doing it, but I had a lot of push-back when I wanted to stop doing gigs."
In the documentary, Avicii also opened up about using alcohol to deal with the attention that fame brought.
The drinking contributed to him developing acute pancreatitis and he had his gallbladder and appendix removed in 2014.
Meanwhile, authorities investigating his death have ruled out foul play.
Police in Oman said yesterday that after two post mortem exams being carried, there was "no criminal suspicion."
His cause of death has not been revealed.
