Amazing news for Cork this morning with Apple announcing plans to expand their campus in the county to make room for 1000 new jobs by mid 2017.

CEO Tim Cook made the announcement this morning on a visit to the Hollyhill facility in Cork city.

The Cork centre presently deals with manufacturing, supply chain, AppleCare and shared services.

Their Cork operations currently employ over 5000 people, making them one of the largest multinational employers in the country. Apple have been in Ireland for over 30 years, first arriving back in 1980.

The Taoiseach, Enda Kenny expressed his happiness at the news this morning to the Irish Times: "This continued expansion by the company is testament to the quality of the talent pool, the infrastructure and the business environment that this country has to offer and further cements Apple as one of the leading employers in Ireland.”

In other positive jobs news, recruitment company Indeed have announced they will be creating 300 new jobs in their Dublin offices over the next two years. They will be hiring in the areas of sales, client services, business development, marketing, finance and operations according to the Irish Times.
