Anonymous are distancing themselves from a press release circulated yesterday – claiming ISIS plan to launch terror attacks on a number of events in locations worldwide today. Last night, a press release outlining possible areas of attack today named France, Spain, Italy, Indonesia, Lebanon and the US as potential targets today. The statement read: “This is a warning to anyone going to any of the events listed below or going to any event with a lot of people, church services included - but the risk of any churches outside Paris/France being targeted is low.” “There will be big events worldwide on the 22nd, go at your own risk.” The Anonymous group later tweeted dispelling the rumours, claiming the ‘leaked information’ did not come from any of their own intelligence sources:

Responding to online concerns, the FBI confirmed released a statement adding: ‘The FBI is aware of reports of an alleged threat that includes and Atlanta, Georgia, venue and event. While we take all threats seriously, we do not have specific or credible information of an attack at this time.’ While people continued to grow alarmed from the news, the Anonymous group started receiving some backlash:

Internet hacking group, Anonymous declared “war” on Isis, promising to disable social media accounts and extremist websites last week. In a video posted online, a member of the Internet campaign group warns the Islamic State: “Anonymous from all over the world will hunt you down. “We will launch the biggest operation ever against you. “Expect massive cyber attacks. War is declared. Get prepared. “The French people are stronger than you and will come out of this atrocity even stronger.”
