Gatwick Airport have asked any customers flying today to not travel to the airport without checking the status of their flight with their airline first. The airport has also apologised to those affected but stressed that "the safety of all our passengers and staff is their number one priority." It comes after the airport had to be shut down after a drone flew through its airspace. Authorities believe that it was a deliberate attempt to disrupt flights in the UK's second busiest airport. You can check your Aer Lingus flight status here.Flight disruptions and cancellations are expected due to the closure of airspace over Gatwick. Please check your flight status before departing for the airport. Affected guests can be accommodated on the next available flight or cancel and apply for a refund.
