Well...

We have learned over the years that being a parent often involves lying to your kid. You kind of just throw a little white lie their way when they're doing something they shouldn't. Or, when you want them to do something. Speaking of lies our parents told us, Rebecca O'Keeffe (hey, that's me) and Niamh Maher had their lovely mums on Girls With Goals this week. The two mums dished on all the little lies they told their kids, along with some other hilarious things. Have you ever wondered about the lies you were told as a child? WELL, we did some research, and found the most common lies. Are you ready? Sugar will make you hyper. So science has actually proven that there is no such thing as a sugar high, so please pass the skittles. Carrots give you night vision.  Fake fu*cking news. That's not possible, and we know it (kind of.) If you make that face, you'll get stuck that way.  Again, and I can't stress this enough... FAKE NEWS. You'll go blind if you sit near the TV.  Science has found no link between watching TV up close and vision loss. You may strain your eyes, but there won't be any permanent damage. Goldfish have bad memories.  These poor lads. We grew up believing that goldfish had, like, three second memories. Well, scientists believe their memories last for months. Chewing gum takes years to digest.  Lads, unless you're swallowing MASSIVE amounts of it, you'll just digest it as normal.. You can't swim right after you eat.  This whole myth stems from the notion that while your body is digesting, there isn't enough blood flowing to your limbs, so you'll get cramps and drown.
