A woman with a rare uterus condition has given birth to twins - 11 weeks apart. Liliya Konovalova gave birth to her baby girl Liya on May 24. Almost three months later, her son Maxim arrived on August 9. Their mother, from Kazakhstan, had been diagnosed with uterus didelphys, a rare condition that results in the formation of a double womb. The Kazakh Health Ministry announced the births of the twins on social media this month, calling the pregnancy "a very rare case" and of course, "a miracle." "According to statistics in such cases, the chances of the birth of a living child are one to 50 million," they said on Facebook.  "But thanks to the professionalism of the doctors of the perinatal centre, mom and babies are doing well. "As the happy mom confesses, the pregnancy was very hard and the doctors recommended all the time to lay down and go out of the house as often as possible." Konovalova, who is 29-years-old, gave birth to Liya at 25 weeks gestation when she weighed just under two pounds. 11 weeks later, she welcomed baby Maxim who weighed three times that of his sister, six pounds four ounces. The new mother told local news sources that both of her children are developing well and are healthy. "My son was in no rush to come out into the world," she said. "Thanks to our doctors, we prevailed (...) What they did is a miracle. My kids now weigh around three kilograms and we're getting ready to be discharged from the hospital." Uterus didelphys is thought to occur in one in every 3,000 women. It can cause a woman to have two wombs, two cervixes, and in some cases, two vaginas. Many women with the condition experience normal sex lives, pregnancies, and deliveries, but uterus didelphys can also lead to miscarriage and infertility.
