Let's face it, we've all had at least one really bad break-up, one that has buried itself in our memories forever. Whenever anyone discusses a bad break-up, we tend to use that particular memory to take the title of the worst split ever.

Fortunately, the small screen and the big screen let us relive these moments, but make us feel better about ourselves. Here are the eleven worst TV and movie break-ups.

1. Sex and the City

We have seen many the bad break-up but this one really takes the biscuit.

Method - Break-up by Post-it.

Judgement - Cowardly and absolutely heartless. Probably the worst break-up we have ever seen.

2. Forgetting Sarah Marshall

Method - Breaking up while naked.

Judgement - Humiliating, if a little funny.

3. Office Space

Method - Answering machine break-up

Judgement - Peter also finds out that his girlfriend has been cheating on him. Doubly harsh.

4. 50 First Dates

Method - Girl with amnesia breaks up with her boyfriend every morning

Judgement - Totally blameless, if a little hurtful.

5. Friends

Method - We were on a break!

Judgement - Just heartbreaking. Particularly the "this can't be it" to which Rachel replies "then how come it is?"

6. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

Method - It just wasn't working but totally removing any memory of your ex? A bit much, no?

Judgement - A ridiculous decision, what will be, will be.

7. Cheers

Method - Sam and Diane broke up just before they tied the knot so that Diane could leave Boston and finish her novel

Judgement - Too sad to talk about... Diane said she would come back, Sam knew she never would.

8. Sex and the City - Mark 2

Method - Carrie and Aidan were getting along just fine until Big came back and ruined everything. Ok fine, he was her true love but seriously, Aidan was so nice.

Judgement - If this happened to you Carrie, we never would have heard the end of it.

9. Fatal Attraction

Method - Bold Dan (Michael Douglas) has an affair with the stunning Alex (Glenn Close) but realises it was a mistake and goes back to his wife.

Judgement - Well, Alex certainly felt hard done by. Two words, bunny boiler.

10. Blue Valentine

Method - We're still too upset to talk about this, but it just wasn't working out and they had to go their separate ways.

Judgement - That moment when Ryan walked away was almost too much for us to bear.

11. Bridget Jones's Diary

Method - We always knew he wasn't the greatest guy in the world, but seriously, shagging another woman when Bridget walked in on them? In a bunny outfit? Cruel.

Judgement - Well, we have all met our own variations of Daniel. There are better options. Move on.
