Welcome to the Weekend!
Another Friday rolls around! Here are ten things that put a smile on our faces this week…

Wrapped up in a Bowe
This week Her.ie gal Grace found herself on the sixth floor of a swanky Dublin hotel in the room of an Irish rugby legend. Monaghan man, Tommy Bowe, chatted about the All-Ireland, his future Heineken Cup dreams with Ulster, dealing with Fangirls (Grace managed to keep it together until after the interview) and how gravy is the most difficult thing to master when it comes to a Sunday Roast. Whatever you say Tommy, whatever you say. Read the interview here.
Alex & Ani
Editor Michelle is the proud owner of some dreamy Alex & Ani arm candy as of this week, and she admits that her new bangles are the first thing she packed for Electric Picnic. Right after her tent and tickets, that is. She’ll be rocking a stack of four, with plans to add to her collection already (are you listening, Santa?), but this one is her favourite so far.

A Picture Speaks a Thousand Words
Everyone on Team Her.ie was touched and inspired when we heard about brave Galway lass Ailbhe Connolly who has been battling a brain tumour since June, and who achieved her summer aim this week; to attend her beloved boyfriend’s debs. You can read her full story here. We’re all of the opinion that she’s one amazing young woman, and we can't wait to hear what ambitions she conquers next.

Lounging About
If you’re looking for a nice spot for a chat with friends after work, why not head to the Library Bar on Exchequer St in Dublin? Úna headed there for the first time this week and she loved the atmosphere. She told us it felt like something out of The Great Gatsby, so that’s the rest of Team Her.ie sold!

About Time
New Beginnings
The latest addition to the happy Her.ie family is Cathy Donohue. She says the highlight of her week was joining us here, which is very sweet altogether. Fashion nut Cathy is also very excited about the new Autumn/Winter collections arriving at some of our favourite stores, including A|Wear and Penneys.

Sporty Style
Sports enthusiast Rebecca is liking the look of the new Millie & Gym range available at Life Style Sports. "I've just started back at the gym so am on the lookout for some new gear," she explains. "This range ticks all the boxes (comfy, practical, stylish) and better still, it's affordable. I also play a lot of tennis so the tracksuit bottoms are ideal coming into the autumn."

X Factor Looks a Little Sweeter…
In the great words of Donkey from Shrek, ‘Everybody likes cake’. So you can imagine our delight this week when a cake from the lovely folks at Littlewoods Ireland arrived, in advance of the return of The X Factor to our screens this weekend. It was red velvet in case you’re wondering, and no, there isn’t any left. Sorry!

The Big Knit
The innocent Big Knit is back for it’s fifth year running. This lovely initiative has helped countless elderly people over the years but unfortunately, there are many more than need help. That’s why Innocent is bringing it back and donating more than ever. You can find out more here.
