Welcome to the Weekend!
Another Friday rolls around! Here are ten things that put a smile on our faces this week…

Gaga for GAA
Times are tough and many of our friends and family, and even many talented GAA players have emigrated due to lack of work here at home. But no matter what part of the world you travel, there is no greater place to be on the day of the All-Ireland GAA football final. These images sent in from all over the globe to Mayo GAA Banter Page on Facebook are nothing short of brilliant.
Oh Well I Never…. Cats is Top Dog at the Theatre
Our editor Michelle headed along to opening night of this musical, the latest to take up a residency at the fabulous Bord Gáis Energy Theatre. Playing at Bord Gáis until September 7th, Thursday’s opening night performance was met with a standing ovation from the capacity crowd. Andrew Lloyd Webber’s record-breaking musical, based on the works of TS Eliot, is a delight for musical fans, and still as enthralling today as it was back when it hit the West End an astonishing 34 years ago. Magic.

Praising the spud!
Today is of course National Potato Day, which our Úna could argue is the best day in the Irish calendar. There are so many things that are great about the humble spud that we had to write up a special list celebrating its wonderful existence! Chips anyone?

Helping Hands...
Team member Rebecca is loving Vaseline’s Healthy Hands and Stronger Nails Hand Cream. “It smells and feels great on my hands. Better still, you only need a small bit which means it lasts longer. You can’t beat that.” Our hands work very hard, typing away here all day...
Sue Becomes a Directioner
This week, Sue discovered a new love for One Direction after attending a preview screening for This is Us. She has now decided that Louis is her favourite, but she places Harry as a very close second. Fans of the band will certainly be happy with the new film.

‘Ireland I am coming home…’ Garth Brooks is back, and we couldn’t be happier.
News of the country legend’s forthcoming world tour was leaked on Wednesday, and it is without doubt the greatest news we have heard all year. Never mind Standing Outside The Fire, we’ll run through fire, on fire if we have to, just to ensure we have a ticket to our man’s concert.

Prepping for Picnic
The countdown is on to the big daddy in the Irish festival calendar, and Michelle is very, very excited. Along with the headliners, she’s looking forward to hanging out in Casa Bacardi with some top-notch DJs, and heading to the Electric Ireland tent to bust some moves with Mr Motivator. Yes please.

Her.ie girl Úna headed to see The Way Way Back this week and it’s now officially in her list of favourite movies. Not only does the film have an all-star cast but it’s full of genuine laughs and great acting. The gorgeous Sam Rockwell was particularly brilliant in it, says Úna. Now we all have to see it.
Only the Best Brownies
Hansel and Gretel bakery and patisserie which is located on Clare Street in Dublin has a new fan in self-proclaimed chocolate addict Rebecca. She says: "The brownies are the best I have ever tasted and the cookies are pretty nice too. Yum!".
