Welcome to the Weekend!
Here’s hoping you’ve got an epic Bank Holiday weekend planned. Team Her.ie will be fleeing to all four corners of the country for some rest and relaxation, (or pampering and partying), after a lovely week in Her.ie Towers. Here are a few of the things that made us smile this week…

Hakuna Matata
Her.ie editor Michelle went to see The Lion King in the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre this week and was blown away. It’s incredible, and that’s coming from someone who’s paid over twenty visits to other shows in Broadway and the West End (yes, she’s a musicals geek and wished life was really like that). Read the full review here.

I scream, you scream…
Our pals at Ben and Jerry’s dropped over with some ice-cream the second the sun appeared this week… we love those guys. Her.ie’s Rebecca is an especially big fan. Quote: “Blondie Brownie is my new addiction. The only thing better than a tub of it is the mini plastic spade you get to eat it with."

Baking up a storm
Her.ie girl Amy is planning on baking up a storm and getting some practice in ahead of World Baking Day on May 19th. Thanks to Unique Media and Stork, she’s all kitted out. We’re fully expecting a batch of red velvet cupcakes in the office on Tuesday (or a cake... whichever Amy, as long as you bring us baked goods on Tuesday, everyone’s happy).
Beauty Buys to Try
M&S Make Up Maestro and renowned makeup artist Kay Montano has worked with red carpet regulars including Thandie Newton, Jennifer Lawrence and Salma Hayek. She took the time recently to sit down with Her.ie's Denise Calnan and talk image and winning makeup looks.
We're loving the new M&S Your Beauty range: it's high quality, affordable makeup. It's available now at M&S Mary Street, Dublin and there are Beauty Boutiques to open this summer at M&S Dundrum, Grafton St and Liffey Valley too.
Brotherly/Sisterly Love
Earlier this week it was National Brothers and Sisters Day. Don't stress if you missed it, if this is the first you're hearing about it then clearly your siblings missed it too. Not to worry, we paid a little tribute to them on your behalf. Check out the Ten Things we learned from our siblings...
Earworm of the Week
We went to see this guy perform in Whelan’s this week and have had the songs stuck in our head ever since. Presenting Kiernan McMullan... enjoy!
Say cheese!
This week Michelle headed to one of her favourite places in the country, Dublin Zoo, with the good folks from Canon Ireland. They took a small group around with the latest releases from Canon and let us snap away to our hearts content. Sadly, we had to hand the cameras back (Michelle has started the savings account for a new one already) but we kept the snaps, and now a huge version of this picture taken by Michelle lives in our office. Red pandas = too cute.

Wild Irish Women
Inspired by this piece we posted on Women of the Wild West, the lovely people at O’Brien Press sent us a copy of this book about wild Irish women. We’re very excited to sit down with this one for a cracking Bank Holiday read. We’ll report back once we’re done!

Sandwiches. Yes. Really.
We might as well just accept it now, there will never be a week when this post doesn’t include food. At an estimate, Her.ie’s Sue has mentioned these sandwiches roughly about 1,256 times this week. Apparently, they’re really very good.
Reese Witherspoon Getting Arrested
Don’t get us wrong, we adore Reese. If anything, her arrest made us love her even more. But this video is hilarious, and we’ve watched it almost as many times as Sue’s mentioned sandwiches this week.
