Tech Treats
Ok we'll say it. We're the tiniest bit jealous of the back to school crew. All those NEW THINGS to love. So, we've decided that it's only fair that we get some new toys too. Currently, we're coveting a range of goodies from Microsoft to make the home office a better place to be. We've opted for some wedges, and we don't mean shoes. The Wedge™ Mobile Keyboard offers the perfect balance between form and function. Minimalist design combined with a full-sized key set, Windows 8 hotkeys a Windows Start key and media keys for simple music and video control. The multi-purpose cover powers down the device and doubles as a tablet stand. With Bluetooth® connectivity the keyboard works with most tablets and the light-touch keys offer fast, comfortable typing.
We're also treating ourselves to the Wedge™ Touch Mouse. This compact and stylish mouse offers ultimate portability, allowing you to be productive anywhere, anytime. With no USB transceiver the Wedge Touch Mouse connects directly to your Bluetooth-enabled laptop or tablet, and BlueTrack technology means it will work on virtually any surface. 4-way touch scrolling optimised for Windows 8 navigation and smart energy conservation, putting your mouse in ‘Backpack Mode’ whenever your device is shut down or hibernating, combine to make this a powerful and unique tool.
Mama Mia...
Michelle treated herself to a meal in Tosacana this week and hasn't stopped raving about the eatery since. She visited the Cork Hill restaurant in the middle of the city, but diners also have the option of checking out the sister restaurant located in the sea side surroundings of Dun Laoghaire. We have a LOT of love for Italian food around here and for over a decade l the award winning name of Toscana Italian restaurants have been serving up authentic Italian cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere. To be honest, she's disappointed with herself that she didn't visit sooner. Delish!
Holidays!
Rebecca was off on holidays last week and while she didn’t go away anywhere, she was glad to have the time to do whatever she wanted. As well as going to see Ant & Dec’s Takeaway Live On Tour in The Odyssey in Belfast, she hit the shops and spent an absolute fortune. Her favourite purchase was this Aztec print skirt from Topshop which she is hoping will serve her well in the coming months (worn with a pair of woolly tights and a jumper of course).
Music to our Ears
Vocal harmony trio, Glenn Murphy, Ronan Scolard and Óisín O’Callaghan are no strangers to the pages of Her.ie. Known now by the stage name, Trillogy, announced their first ever headline concert at the National Concert Hall, Dublin and our girl Grace could not be any happier. The lads will perform their growing repertoire of contemporary choral music in the intimate surroundings of the John Field Room. They put together a little snippet for their biggest fan... Amazing Grace. She hasn't stopped smiling since.
Forty Winks
After a few wonderful, blissful days at Electric Picnic, Marie's favourite thing this week was definitely her bed. While going native and getting forty winks in a freezing campsite is a festival essential, there is nothing like arriving home to a hot shower and your own pillow. If anyone is looking for her over the next week, chances are that they'll find her here.
Shop Til You Drop
Liz has a new favourite shop in Dublin – Carousel. She was strolling to work via Grafton Street, when she stumbled across this vintage little haven. The staff were so warm and friendly, and the basement was a treasure trove of dresses. She also picked up this little gem on sale. Definitely worth a stop off in the city!
Off to Grandmother's House
Michelle is taking the early train from the capital to Limerick city this Saturday to see a very special Granny. Not her granny, mind, even though she's pretty special too. No, she's off to see a seven-and-a-half metre tall granny set to walk the streets of Limerick this weekend and due to attract up to 200,000 fans. Granny is the work of Royal de Luxe, a world-famous French street theatre company, and the spectacle is set to be one of the highlights of Limerick's City of Culture reign.
House of Cards
She may be a little late to the party but Rebecca is officially addicted to House of Cards starring Kevin Spacey, Kate Mara and Robin Wright. She started watching series 1 last week and is now well into series 2. Obviously we’re not going to give away any spoilers but let’s just say there have been a few OMG moments.
