It’s a Monday morning. You might have had the fear this morning, turned over on your side, or even treated yourself to a large coffee in the hopes of feeling more alive.
While it’s easy to feel sorry for yourself when it’s cold outside and you have to leave your bed, sometimes it’s important to take stock of your luck.
Like being able to wake up and breathe. Unaided, without difficulty.
A 15-year old from Detroit has shown the real benefits of organ donation, after proving it really is the little things in life.
Trevor Sullivan was diagnosed with a life-threatening heart disease in February last year and was left waiting for a heart transplant.
Following eight months of battling his illness, Trevor had a match and underwent the surgery.
Cherishing the moments his son was wakening, Trevor’s father Philip decided to record the moment his son woke up… and captured a message so simple but brilliant.
Trevor tells the camera:
‘I’m so happy. I’ve been waiting so long. I can breathe again… and talk.’

Philip then posted the video to the Gift of Life Michigan organ donation page, to encourage others to step forward and sign up to be an organ donor.
Speaking to ABC News, Trevor said:
“I really like the video, actually. I think it’s really cool and I wish everyone in the world could see it because it really makes a difference.
“It promotes organ donation and people can see the outcome of it and how happy they [patients] really are.”
