Twitter Reports Reveals How Many Account The Irish State Asked To Be Removed Last Year

Twitter has published its latest transparency report and the requests made for information or the removal of accounts in 2014. In 2014, the Irish State asked for 13 accounts on the social media site to be removed, however Twitter declined. The figures, which were released this week, show that all of the requests were made in the first six months of the year. Since the report began in 2012, only six requests have been made for information on specific accounts: “First published on July 2, 2012, our biannual Twitter Transparency Report highlights trends in government requests we've received for account information, government requests we've received for content removal, and copyright notices (both takedown notices and counter notices) we've received," the company explained. “The report also provides insight into whether or not we take action on these requests”.
