18. Do your best to conserve water

 

We all know that after a long, hard day at the office there’s nothing better than winding down with a nice, hot shower. However, water heating is (unfortunately) one of the most energy-consuming things that you have in your home.

You see, it takes longer and requries more energy to heat up water, which means that your electricity bill could suffer as a result. So what can you do to keep your hard-earned cash?

The answer is to try and cut down on your water use. This means taking faster showers. We know, we know. Sometimes you just need a long shower, but why not compromise? For example, instead of spending twenty minutes languishing in the shower cubical, try ten minutes instead.

Another way that you can lower your water use is to become more conscious of the water that you use on a daily basis. Become aware of the water you use when you’re washing the dishes, washing the clothes and preparing food.

By noticing how much you use, you can actively take steps to lower your water consumption, which will bode well for your purse and your electricity bill.

The key is to start small. Maybe you could have a shorter shower tonight? Maybe you could wash your clothes on a cooler temperature? Or maybe, just maybe, you could turn the tap off as your brushing your teeth?
