The time of year couples are most likely to break up has been revealed.

And, as it turns out, it has already passed (well, kind of). A new survey conducted by home interiors specialist Hilary's found that the last week of February is the most popular week for couples to call time on their relationship. The survey [via Red] looked at 3,000 people, with more than half admitting they felt comfortable splitting at this time of year because the holidays - like Christmas, New Year's and Valentine's Day - are all over. They also confessed that calling time on their end of their relationships now would make sure that they could enjoy the spring and summer months as a singleton. Ouch. 10 per cent of people surveyed added that they would be more likely to put their house up for sale during the month of March. Hillary’s spokesperson Lucy Askew said that "maybe this is a good time for any first-time buyers to be on the lookout." "There is never a right time for a break-up," she added. "No matter what time of year, there will always be upset caused, [but] staying in a relationship because you feel bad or because you feel pressured will definitely not make you happy and will hurt your partner more so in the long-run."
