We all like to think that we’re completely perfect and wonderful in the eyes of our partner, but a controversial new study has revealed that most fellas only consider their girlfriend/fiancée/wife to be 67 per cent ‘perfect’ or ‘ideal.’
Harsh, much?
According to a survey of 2,000 men, which was commissioned by hair care expert Remington, eight in 10 men are convinced that the perfect woman does not exist, and they consider their own partner to be only 67 percent perfect.
Why are ranking at a pathetic 67 per cent? Apparently, the men in our lives are keeping a secret scorecard and making deductions every time we snap at them, give out about the football or nag them to pick their pants up off the floor.
Other issues which stopped the men questioned from seeing their partner as ‘perfect’ were a tendency to make mountains out of molehills, poor driving skills and insisting on taking over the telly in order to watch soaps.
Oh and taking too long to get ready was another major no-no according to the men questioned as part of the research.
“We are surprised that more men are unable to describe their partner as perfect, but it could be that they’re just more realistic in what they want. It’s good to see that the images of perfect models and celebrities that flood our media aren’t creating unrealistic expectations in people’s relationships,” said Vicky Williams, the marketing director for Remington.
“Of course men may well be vocal in their appreciation of an Angelina Jolie or a Cheryl Cole in the pub with their mates but it shows that they know that these cannot be classed as real women,” she added.
If men could change their partner in any way, the vast majority would get them to be more relaxed. Secondly they would get their other half to enjoy watching sport and to be a bit more adventurous with regards to life.
The good news is that despite all this negativity, men do appreciate us. A quarter of the men surveyed admitted that they are currently “punching above their weight” in terms of their relationship, and 45 percent happily admit that their partner is way more attractive than they are.
Just a fifth of men would actually want their partner to be 100 per cent perfect and a romantic 47 per cent are convinced that their current partner is ‘the one.’
We have to ask ladies, when it comes to perfection – where does your man rank?
