And what I found stunned me… They were incredibly repetitive.''Among the answers were the somewhat obvious things like, have respect, be realistic and talk openly. But one that isn't as obvious, specifically when it's phrased like this is 'get good at fighting'. One person who has been married for over 10 years submitted this piece of advice that claimed that it's crucial.
''The relationship is a living, breathing thing. Much like the body and muscles, it cannot get stronger without stress and challenge. You have to fight. You have to hash things out. Obstacles make the marriage.''Obviously, fighting over minor things is never a good thing, but sometimes issues are real and important to discuss. Some people may see fighting as a bad sign in a relationship but being able to discuss problems without treading on eggshells until the issue gets sorted can help a relationship stay healthy.
