Your favourite sweet treats are about to become that little bit healthier, with Mars Inc. announcing plans to remove all artificial colours from its human food product.
The move means that the artificial colours used in M&Ms, Skittles, Wrigley’s, Snickers and Twix will be swapped out for natural colourants as a ‘commitment to meet evolving consumer preferences’.
Confirming the news in a
press release, the company said they hope consumers will be encouraged by the move to more natural products in their confectionary.
Mars Inc. predict the change will take five years to come into effect.
Speaking about the decision to change their processes, Mars Inc. president and CEO Grant F. Reid said:
“We’re in the business of satisfying and delighting the people who love our products.
“Eliminating all artificial colours from our human food portfolio is a massive undertaking and one that will take time and hard work to accomplish.”
While we know it doesn’t turn that sugar content right on its head, it's definitely a step to less processed additives making its way into your daily diet.
