Remember Google Glass? That didn't work out so great, did it?
To be fair, the Snapchat Spectacles aren't trying to compete with that idea, because all they'll be doing - aside from being spectacles - is recording and uploading video, and not attempting to be an entire working smartphone attached to your face.
And, currently priced at $130, they're much, much cheaper than what the Google Glass were going for.
If this is off interest to you, then we've got good news and bad news for you. Good news first, the specs are now officially available to buy on the Snapchat website here. Bad news is that they're currently only shipping to customers in the USA, so you'll have to overcome that little speed-bump if you really want to be one of the first in the country with the wearable gadget.
Early adopters have been uploading for a few months now, and with Instagram and Facebook offering up their own versions of short-term video uploading, Snapchat are definitely looking to expand their market-share in different ways.
