Upwards of 100 homes are expected to be flooded in the coming days following two weather warnings issued by Met Eireann. The West of the country has been the worst affected with water levels on the River Shannon continuing to rise and expected to peak at the weekend.

Met Eireann have warned that conditions will ease off today and tomorrow but that further heavy rain is expected over the weekend. Troops have been deployed in high risk areas including Clonlara in Co Clare, Castleconnell in Co Limerick and Ballinasloe, Co Galway.
