Met Eireann have warned that conditions will ease off today and tomorrow but that further heavy rain is expected over the weekend.
Troops have been deployed in high risk areas including Clonlara in Co Clare, Castleconnell in Co Limerick and Ballinasloe, Co Galway.
Her reader Louise Farragher sent in shocking images of her locality near Ballinrobe in Mayo, noting that the community are "in need of help".
She wrote: "It's getting scary now, and with more bad weather to come, we're all in fear."
