It was one of the worst results in the history of Ireland at Eurovision, and now we know who to blame.
With organisers releasing the full list of separate results for the first time, it’s been revealed that Ireland actually placed 14th in the public vote, but slipped down to an embarrassing 23rd of 23 with the harsh jury scores were taken into account.
The competition in Malmo saw Ireland’s Ryan Dolan attract only five points, though many Irish viewers felt it was one of our best performances in recent memory.
Ireland still holds the record as the most successful country at the Eurovision, with seven wins to our name. Our last win was in 1996, when Eimear Quinn performed ‘The Voice’.
Dolan may have the last laugh though, as his song has charted in over 30 countries since his Eurovision appearance.
