Everyone knows that a dog is man’s best friend, and saying a final farewell to a friend is one of the most difficult experiences that life can bring.
This touching picture shows Kaiser, a two and a half year old Massachusetts police dog, getting an official send-off from other members of the department on his way to be lain to rest.
The beloved member of the force had to be put down after a battle with kidney disease, and on Thursday his handler, Officer Jamie Lebretton took to the Plymouth Police Working Dog Foundation Facebook page to tell Kaiser’s story, and bid him a loving farewell.

The response was instant, and international. Messages of support flew in from across the globe, and on Friday, the day Kaiser was laid to rest, Officer Lebretton again took to social media to say thanks, and assure those touched by the story that he had read every single message, and that the officers were “humbled by the support from perfect strangers”.

RIP Kaiser. Good boy.
