October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and many people are doing what they can to support it.

Galway Races has announced that for the second year in a row, it will host a three-day festival, as well as the Race in Pink fundraising day, to help breast cancer research. The festival will take place over the bank holiday weekend, from Saturday, October 26 to Monday, October 28. Last year, Galway Races approached The National Breast Cancer Research Institute, an Irish charity that raises funds in support of the breast cancer research team lead by Professor Michael Kerin, to organise a fundraiser. The research team collaborates with genetic scientists, clinical triallists, medical technology engineers and Big Data investigators at universities and hospitals both nationally and abroad. The research not only impacts breast cancer in Ireland, but across the globe. Professor Michael Kerin said:

"All of these programmes are technically demanding and expensive and we are very grateful to our funders for their continued support. "The race day was particularly successful and I am very grateful to the 'Race in Pink' Committee, the race sponsors and the local businesses who helped with corporate sponsorship as well as our continued loyal supporters among the public."

In 2018, the festival raised more than €95,000 for the organisation which made it a major success and it's looking to do the same this year. Guests will have the ultimate race day experience with live bands and prizes galore.
