We’ve all been there sitting on the sofa, watching a film and thinking why couldn’t my love life be like that?
Ladies we have news for you, it can! All you need is to choose your romantic movie moment, grab your gorgeous boyfriend and use your imagination.
Here are a few of our favourite scenes to get you started…
1. Ghost – We couldn’t resist kicking this list off with the pottery scene from this classic. With a rotating pottery table, the sound of the Righteous Brothers in the background and a hunky man wrapping his arms around you how could you not want to copy this scene? It might be hard to find a pottery table but it’s not to find a sink full of dishes. Improvisation is key.
2. Titanic – So your fella might not be Pablo Picasso but that doesn’t mean you can’t follow in the footsteps of Jack and Rose in Titanic by embarking on an explicit private portrait class. It may sound corny but it’s great fun and is guaranteed to give you a confidence boost, not that you need it with that figure!
3. The Notebook – Yes there are so many romantic scenes to choose from in this film but no we can’t pick them all otherwise out list would be full. It was a tough decision but we’ve decided to pinpoint the scene where Noah and Allie passionately kiss before he carries her up to the house and… we don’t really need to go into any more detail.
4. 40 Days and 40 Nights – The flower scene in this flick between Josh Hartnett and Shannyn Sossamon is simply incredible. It’s subtle yet sexy and probably the best non-sex sex scene in a film ever! If we’d known petals were this much fun, we’d have been down to the florist ages ago.
5. Pretty Woman – Who knew a piano and Richard Gere could be so seductive? We certainly didn’t, that’s for sure. For the first time ever we found ourselves wanting to be in Julia Robert’s prostituting shoes being manhandled by Richard Gere on top of a piano in the middle of a hotel function room. Pretty Woman? More like pretty raunchy.
6. From Here to Eternity – Even back in 1953 there was a bit of an obsession with kissing on a beach. This scene acted out by Burt Lancaster and Deborah Kerr in From Here to Eternity became one of the most iconic kissing scenes in film history and to date still remains one of the most romantic scenes ever made.
7. Armageddon – There we were thinking that the best thing to do with animal crackers was to eat them. Guess we’ll have to think again. Liv Tyler and Ben Affleck show just how useful they can be in this end of the world action movie. So what if you have to swap their warm park for a cold back garden. Besides you won’t be cold for too long.
8. Spider-Man – Okay so it might be a little tricky to copy but the upside-down kiss between Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst in Spider-Man is a must on our romantic checklist. All you have to do is swap the spider web and wall for hanging backwards off a sofa, and you’re sorted.
9. The Beach – While we don’t agree with the affair he was having with his friend’s girlfriend in the film we simply can’t resist the urge to take a leaf out of Leonardo DiCaprio’s book and have an underwater sesh. The only problem is that Irish seas are absolutely freezing and we don’t fancy getting pneumonia. Perhaps we’ll settle for the bath.
10. Dirty Dancing – We started our list with a Swayze film so we feel it’s only right to end with one too. From the moment the sound of Cry To Me comes on the record player to the moment Johnny makes Baby a real woman, this scene from Dirty Dancing is divine. What are you waiting for? Get your man up on his feet and get dancing!
During the compilation of this list we chopped and changed our minds so many times it’s hard to believe we finally got a list at the end of it all. Let’s just hope our attempts at re-enacting these scenes go a little smoother.
