Rachel and Bella
"Our family has had a difficult time over the years beginning with our Mam’s suicide in 2010. Subsequently myself and my two older sisters had our long term relationships end. This meant that we really had to lean on each other for support, and Rachel was always there when we needed her.
"As the eldest of the four siblings she became a surrogate Mammy to all of us, as we were both now single she also became my wingman on many nights out (and I hers), teaching me a lot about how to respect women and treat them right. She became a training partner too, with both of us developing a keen interest in fitness.
"We have with our sister Linda completed a number of 5k races together, the girls have competed in women’s mini marathons to raise money for suicide prevention charities across Ireland and we regularly attend circuit training classes together. Recently we completed “Hell and Back”, Ireland’s toughest 10k military assault course, wadding through muck and barbed wire, up and down mountains and here is the two of us at the finish line still smiling".

"Typical of Rachel as she is a beacon of positive energy and strength to so many people in her life. Straight away Rachel signed us up for the next “Hell and Back” in June (this time 12k) and recruited a team of 8 to help us raise funds for Suicide Prevention Charity SOSAD, in memory of our Mam.
"Two weeks ago, Rachel after two months of intensive training danced on stage at a local Strictly Come Dancing fundraiser, helping to raise tens of thousands of euros for a local play park that her daughter and other children can enjoy.
"Having never been on stage before in any capacity she wowed the judges and audience with her Salsa dancing and received one of the highest scores of the night. The pictures shows her completing a stunning lift".

"A super mum, a super sister and a super best friend to me. This all around superwoman is my hero and that’s why I think she should be woman of the week".
We really hope Rachel enjoys her €100 voucher, and if you have someone in mind for our Woman Of The Week, please get in touch.
Readers should submit their entries to info@her.ie and should also include an image of their nominated woman.
